Splendid September as GIIS Hadapsar bustles with activities and events

Greetings to one and all.

A vast line-up of exciting activities and events ensured that September has been a splendid month for GIIS, Smart Campus, Hadapsar.

Despite numerous challenges which came our way this year, our team of educators displayed great selflessness and persistence. They truly deserve to be appreciated. They meticulously planned and organised activities, events, exams, and much more. I wish to take this opportunity to thank every teacher for their invaluable contribution and dedication towards work. Well done team. Your efforts have paid off.

A word of praise for our entire school community as we have completed the first Terminal examinations on the Ekalavya portal. I am sure parents would eagerly be awaiting the results which will be declared on the 8th & 9th of October. Meanwhile, I request all parents to be more subtle on children as you motivate and guide them to score better in the future.

Throwing light on activities and events, the month began with ‘Hindi Divas’ on the 4th of September, 2021, followed by the Teachers’ Day celebrations. The day was celebrated to not only pay tribute to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a former President of our country and a visionary educator but also to mark the importance of our country’s most widely spoken language, Hindi. The students of Grades 1 & 2 appeared for their Evaluation 2, while Grades 3-9 prepared themselves for their Term –I exams this month.

One of the most awaited events this year was the celebratory launch of the Global School Foundation (GSF) on the 18th of September, 2021 on the completion of 20 successful years. It was indeed a proud moment for all those who were associated with GIIS in the present or the past. Some highlights of the event were experiences shared by our parents and students with GIIS, a musical presentation by our teachers, a colourful Punjabi folk dance performed by our parents and teachers together, and finally, a skit showcasing the journey of GSF from 2002-2021.

At GIIS, we are dedicated to building a safe, compassionate community of lifelong learners who are inspired to become respectful, responsible, cooperative, and innovative citizens. GIIS has high expectations for all students and we strive to meet their individual and collective needs in all curricular and extra-curricular activities.

What children need the most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humour, and comfort. With this belief, the students of Pre-Primary celebrated Grandparents Day with great fervour. The day was filled with oodles of blessings, happy faces, excitement, and cheer as the budding stars of GIIS, Hadapsar displayed their love and affection for their grandparents. Activities such as Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC show) and Antakshari were conducted for them.

The students also celebrated ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ with great pomp and gaiety. This festival is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha, the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati. The true essence and significance of this festival were briefed to the students as they had an eco-friendly Lord Ganesha Idol-making session as a mark of their respect for the environment.

The Pre-Primary students along with Grade 1 and 2 also celebrated Orange Day and Flower Day. I-Care activities such as making a bird feeder and ‘Thinking Thursday’ activity-to create a rainbow with the help of CD’s were some more activities witnessed this month.

Meanwhile, adding another feather in our cap, was one of our teachers, Mrs Jaywanti Pawar, who was felicitated with the ‘Best Teacher Award in History’ by UniApply. It was truly a moment of pride for all of us here at GIIS Hadapsar.

Slowly we are making progress and trying our best to bring the entire school community together. I am sure in days to come, the schools shall start functioning physically segment-wise and to the fullest possible in a few months. Please stay connected for more details from the school end.

Have a safe living. Happy October

Best Regards,

Dr. D. Lakshmi Prasanna
