The Global Indian International School (GIIS), Smart Campus Hadapsar celebrated World Safety Day with great zeal and zest from 26th April to 30th April.
GIIS ensures the highest parameters when it comes to child safety. The safety week was conducted for all the students from pre-primary to 9th Grade to sensitize them about various aspects of safety whether they are in the school premises, home, and when surrounded by strangers.
To start with, the key safety measures were explained to students by showing a video and key guidelines were explained to them through PowerPoint Presentations on the miniature. The videos were all the more effective as the students easily understood most of the things explained to them.
This was followed by an insightful session on personal safety wherein all the pre-primary and students of other grades were given a demonstration about good and bad touch, Safety from Corona, Safety of Oneself, Safety measures at Home and Outside, Road and Park Safety, and further, they were also explained about whom to trust and inform in case someone tries to touch them inappropriately. An explanation of the safe circle was also given to the students throughout the week.
There was also a good demonstration about safety from strangers in respective classrooms and students were explained that they should neither talk to strangers nor take any gifts such as chocolate or any expensive stuff from them. The students were made to engage in different activities such as making digital posters, slogan writing, role play, creating PowerPoint presentations on safety rules, etc.,
Our young and conscious GIISians seemed to assimilate their role as empowered future citizens and embraced the onerous responsibility to bring about a change in the Mindset of the adults who usually consider these safety rules as a hindrance.
The objective behind this celebration was to ensure that safety and health are integrated into work culture and lifestyle, to raise awareness about safety guidelines, particularly road safety, workplace safety, and last but not least safety of human health and the environment.
Following are the activities that took place throughout the week:
The kindergarten children were enjoying and as well as listening to their teachers who were speaking about home safety, road safety, and about park safety. Grade 1 & 2 students created their own safety rules to be followed at home, some of them even made posters and explained about road safety. Grade 3 & 4th students prepared posters on road and traffic safety, they even explained the safety rules which are to be followed when an individual is working in the kitchen, around the house and how to follow it wisely.
Further, grade 5 children spoke about the safety of our environment, which is the major concern today and they also had a competition on the last day. Grade 6 & 7 students made a PowerPoint presentation to explain the safety rules, and further also spoke about the safety rules using placards. The quiz was conducted for the students on the last day. Children were also told about the safety equipment. Grade 8 and 9 children made various types of PowerPoint presentations to explain the safety rules and what measures are to be taken for maintaining safety in our day-to-day life. The quiz was also organised on the last day for the students.
