GIIS Hadapsar observed the occasion of Earth Day, which is celebrated on April 22 every year. The day holds an importance to spread awareness and sustainability in respect to the environment. It is a global event that promotes vitality of the planet, and conservation and preservation of the natural resources. 

To spread the message, a plethora of activities were organized for students from all the segments. The Earth Day celebration is a part of the school's robust Green Initiative Programme and I-care activities that allows students to understand their responsibility towards the community and society they live in. 

To commemorate the celebrations, GMP teachers helped students learn the significance of the day by using visual stories, rhymes, craft activities, etc. Teachers explained how we can contribute to reviving the planet, such as,  by proper use of electricity and water, reusing and recycling products, and avoiding the use of plastic and other hazardous materials that take centuries to degrade. 

Primary school students were engaged in an Elocution competition where they spoke on ‘Save our mother Earth’, and did craft activities of making a mobile Earth with stitched tea bags. The activity was done to ditch the microplastics found in plastic materials and encourage the creation of our own sustainable products.

As a green initiative of the school, secondary-level students and teachers took the initiative to make the campus greener. They potted plants at various areas of the school as a part of the plantation drive. 

The celebration was successfully aimed at spreading awareness and performing the foremost responsibility as an individual to protect our home and build a sustainable future.
