The Global Indian International School is pleased to share that the project work of one of our bright students Ahaan Charaniya from Primary grade 2-C has been awarded as the Best Entry during the INTACH’s Earth Day Challenge.

The world is facing a climate crisis- hurricanes batter coastlines, wildfire ravage landscapes, and rising sea levels flooding cities. With the climate in flux, we need people of all backgrounds to observe these changes. That’s where the Global Earth Challenge comes in.

To overcome this challenge, Ahaan made a fully functional floatable boat out of a discarded plastic bottle. Through his work, he showcased the best use of waste, highlighted the importance of reuse and recycle, besides portraying an example to sensitize others in contributing to help save our planet.

This year's theme for Earth Day was 'Restore Our Earth'. So, participants were asked to submit their illustrations to depict ways in which they are helping restore the planet every day. These could be switching off the light, not wasting water, reusing, recycling, etc.

INTACH, also known as the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage is a non-profit organization that works towards preserving our country’s diverse art and heritage sites. Its mission is to protect the heritage and educate the youth to take up the responsibility of protecting and preserving it, and enhancing the quality of life by protecting our earth.

Over the last two years GIIS Hadapsar has been participating in this competition and this year finally our students made this win possible through their hard work and talent. 

GIIS congratulates Ahaan for his win and feels proud to have such talented students with us. We hope to keep winning the award year after year and keep improving our collective efforts towards preserving our Earth.
