GIIS Hadapsar students pledged to conserve nature on Earth Day

Global Indian International School (GIIS), Smart Campus Hadapsar celebrated Earth Day on 22nd, April, 21 to spread awareness among students about the need to conserve and save our Mother Nature. The students from grades 1 to 9 virtually engaged in meaningful activities to show their respect and love towards Mother Earth.

At the onset of the virtual class, all the students took Green Oath along with their teacher and pledged to become global citizens and work for the cause of sustainable development. Youngsters also made a noteworthy commitment to sparing the earth.

This year, the theme for this special day was to “Restore Our Earth” and it was all about fixing the damage we’ve already done.

GIIS has played a vital role in igniting this spark in the minds of its students to make this world a better place to live in. The students celebrated this day with activities conducted by the teachers that were expressive and helped students feel connected to the environmental issues. It was also a great way to help them imagine the world they want to live in. All campuses of GIIS across India conducted similar activities to honour this day and also to impart its significance to the children. The students’ enthusiasm to take part in the activities was contagious and we received a beautiful response in terms of participation.

Some of the most loved Earth day activities were:

- making cut-outs of hands and paper crowns highlighting the steps to save our Earth by students of grades 1 and 2.

-  recycling things found at home and prepared stationery organisers using shoeboxes by students of grades 3 & 4, and they also wrote down slogans.

- grade 5 and 6 students created hanging pots using plastic bottles and prepared wall hangings too.

- grade 7 students made posters on Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Seed bomb activity, while grade 8 students were all geared up to create their own Suncatchers using an old CD. And finally, grade 9 students displayed their creativity by making wall hangings using plastic bottles.

Hence, the day spent virtually with the students was a fruitful one. Their enthusiasm and creativity enhanced the activities prepared by the teachers.
