Human values week was a five day affair organized in GIIS-Hadapsar to promote and raise awareness about the importance of human values among children. The event aimed to educate students about values such as empathy, compassion, respect, honesty, responsibility, and kindness, which are essential for a harmonious and peaceful society.
During Human values week, different activities were conducted for all the segments to help students in understanding and imbibing these values in real life. Activities around values like kindness, helping those in need, honesty, sharing, and fighting the fears were planned throughout the week. Each day children were engaged in a different activity and were engrossed in learning basic human ethics.Parents appreciated the efforts and were thankful to the GMP Department for teaching the much-needed values through such interactive activities.
Special assembly was also conducted for primary students on the same theme. Fourth graders enacted a skit on human values and students shared treats with support staff in order to show gratitude for their help and services. Through her performance, the dance teacher made students realize the importance of never losing hope and keep trying. Students were also sensitized with the importance of education in leading a life of morals and values, for it serves as the basis of character formation and personality development.
Secondary classes also took active participation in the activities organized on the account of human values week celebrations. Community lunch was organized for Grade VI, where they brought healthy food and were seated together around a round table This made them available to all and made community lunch a success with sharing of food, stories and experiences.
Grade VII students wrote their fears on a note and put them in a box anonymously , later students were to pick one and share the similar experience they had faced or their ways in which they would overcome the fear. The activity was thoroughly thought upon to be able to give emotional support to someone who needs it.
Grade VIII at last were told to either make posters or write a real life experience on the theme ‘Hurtful and Helping’. Most of them preferred preparing a poster showing an incident where either they were hurt and were helped or they hurt and helped someone.
The celebration of Human values week provided an opportunity for students to connect on a personal level and learn from each other's real experiences. Throughout the week, students appreciated small things in life, learned acceptance towards one another, and moved towards a happy life, TOGETHER.
Human values week is a significant event that helps instill important values in young minds and prepare them to become responsible citizens of the world. It promotes the development of qualities such as empathy, compassion, and respect, which are essential for creating a peaceful and harmonious world.
