A Joyful January for students of GIIS Hadapsar

"The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today." – H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Dear Parents,

Warm Greetings

January has been a month of unparalleled excitement and creative energy as we hosted our Annual Day Celebration over three magnificent days—29th, 30th and 31st January 2025. Each day was a witness to the hard work, dedication and talent of our students and staff, leaving the audience inspired and awestruck. This year, the theme across all segments was nothing short of spectacular, with each group putting in countless hours of effort to make their performances truly unforgettable.

The youngest stars of our school, the Pre-Primary segment took the audience into a colourful world of circus-inspired fun and frolic with their captivating presentation, ‘Carnival Chronicles.’

Every detail, from costumes to choreography was bursting with vibrant energy and pure delight. The show began with an enchanting Jambo the Elephant Dance followed by the Circus March Past with clowns, magicians and acrobats spreading joy with every step. Their repertoire also featured delightful dances and lively acts like the playful Clown Dance, the humorous Crazy Frog Dance, the sweet and rhythmic Choco-late Dance and the energetic Afro Circus Dance to name a few. All were designed to ensure that this carnival of creativity lingered in everyone’s hearts.

The Primary section showcased a spectacular medley -The Tribal Symphony- Beats of India through an array of dances originating from different regions, bringing the cultural essence of each state to life.  A few highlights included the graceful Rouf dance from Kashmir, Kerala’s Kalaripayattu, Odisha’s dramatic Chhau dance, the joyous Tamang e- selo from Sikkim, Rajasthan’s Kathputli dance, Maharashtra’s Gondi dance and many more.

The Secondary segment mesmerised the audience with Parva- a unique and new dimension of the Mahabharata, weaving its timeless lessons into contemporary narratives. The students beautifully translated the ancient epic’s values into relatable, modern-day contexts, creating a thought-provoking and dynamic presentation. A standout moment of the segment was Draupadi and Gandhari’s soliloquy, where the students brilliantly portrayed the inner conflict, strength, injustice and sacrifices that brought the character’s perspective to life in an unforgettable way.

The entire school community came together to ensure this grand event was a memorable one. The energy and enthusiasm of our students, teachers and staff reminded us of the magic that teamwork can create.

It also gives me immense pleasure and pride in sharing that our Chairman and Co-founder, Mr Atul Temurnikar, was conferred with the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) by the Honourable President of India. This award was given to Mr. Atul for his outstanding contribution to school education and towards the diaspora and communities abroad.

Finally, after the celebrations, it’s now time for us to get our students ready for their final semester examinations.

Learning being a shared responsibility between teachers and parents, I urge you all to kindly ensure the right learning ecosystem and schedule at home for our young learners, so that they feel less stressful during their preparation.

To conclude, as educators we need to remember that it’s not always important to check if a glass is half full or half empty. The important thing is that the glass should be refillable. Our entire teaching and learning is based on the thesis that when we feel we have drained the last drops and there is nothing left, we need to dig deeper.

Regards,

Dr. D Lakshmi Prasanna,

Principal, GIIS Hadapsar
