Every month GIIS Balewadi conducts I-care activities for pre-primary classes of the school. As the name suggests, it teaches students to be responsible and care for one’s surroundings. Topics are hand-picked for the students to inculcate soft skills in them.
In the previous activities, students have been taught about different concepts like Deforestation, its causes, and how it's not beneficial for our planet. They were shown a presentation on afforestation and were familiarized with the only way out of this situation is to plant more trees.
The I-care activity for the month of January taught them to take care of the books. It happens very naturally that books at times go out of their shape, either because of their quality or mishandling. To help children understand the value of, teachers demonstrated the procedure of restoring the book which was carefully observed and followed by the students. With their little hands applied glue and stuck the pages together. They also visited the room full of books, and the school library to deep dive into the world of stories and immeasurable knowledge.
Students were taught the significance and history of the Republic Day-The day when the Constitution of India came into effect and declared the nation as democratic and free from British rule. Teachers explained how our nation impeccably defines Unity in diversity despite different castes, creeds, religions, languages, etc. and also made posters around it. Grade I & II students on the hand drew the National Flag and wrote patriotic slogans.
