Students of class X of GIIS Smart Campus Balewadi had participated in INTACH’s initiative on Millets Recipes as a part of the Social Studies project. The initiative was carried forward to spread awareness about the versatility of whole grains. It’s a moment of pride for GIIS Balewadi as one of our students - Pritika Srivastava’s recipe has been selected for the INTACH, Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Archive Division issue to be released in the upcoming month.

INTACH, Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage conducts such initiatives to spread awareness and preserve the cultural heritage of India and make it available to everyone. Millets (jowar, bajra, ragi, kutki, cheena, kakun, sawa, etc) are the powerhouse of nutritional values and are called the food of the future. The United Nations has declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets and the Government of India is also on the foot to promote millets as the food of the nation.

It was indeed a cherishable experience for the students as they learned about the huge health, economic and environmental benefits of eating millets, also known as nutri-cereals. bajra khichadi, jowar laddoo, ragi biscuits, and chila along with several other dishes. Pritika Srivastava  had presented Millets Muffins for the win.
