GIIS Balewadi teachers win Awards and Appreciation at the Inter-GIIS educator and staff ATHLETA 2021

'Physical fitness is not one of the most important keys to a healthy body. It is the basis of dynamics and creative intellectual activity.’

The Global Indian International School (GIIS), Abu Dhabi organised Inter-GIIS Educator and Staff ATHLETA Week virtually from 26th April to 7th May.

This event was exclusively planned for all the teachers, management, and staff of GIIS Campuses across the globe. Some of the key participants from 22 campuses across 7 countries, including Singapore, Malaysia,  Japan, Thailand, the UAE, Vietnam, and India (Noida, Ahmedabad, Pune (Balewadi & Hadapsar), and Bengaluru (Bannerghatta & Whitefield) participated in the Sports Week. The participants across the globe enjoyed and participated with high spirit and commitment.

GIIS Balewadi staff participated while following rules and regulations guided by the organizer. The participants were also categorized in the Gold and Silver category (as per their age).

Among all the 12 GIIS Balewadi participants, two of the teachers secured first and third prizes under the silver category. The final winner of the competition was Priyanka Sunil Patil, Art & Craft teacher who secured the first position and received Gold Medal in the ‘Wall Ball’ activity. She also secured the third position in the ‘Tuck in and Tuck out’ challenge under Silver Category. Similarly, Kailash Chandra Kaira, our Sports teacher participated in the “Catch and Clap” activity and bagged the third position in the Silver Category for his extraordinary performance. Their winning zeal bought us several awards and appreciation for the Balewadi campus.

The concept behind organizing this competition was ideated and rolled out with the intent to help them showcase their strength, speed, stamina, balance, and endurance with confidence. This virtual Athleta was a great opportunity to bring together the sports enthusiasts from campuses across all GIIS campuses in India as well as abroad. The variety of sports activities included skipping, hip-hop, step in step out, wall ball, catch and clap, plank, burpees, and lots more.

The main focus on Sports Excellence is a key part of GIIS’ 9 GEMS framework and GIIS students have always been encouraged, mentored, and inspired to choose their field as per their individual interests.

It is really a glorious and prideful moment for our school to witness these competitions in which our teachers too performed so well on a global platform. Their win is an inspiration to children and other staff members, and GIIS Balewadi congratulates and wishes all the participants and winners for their great future ahead.
