December and November were packed with field trips of all the grades at our Smart Campus, GIIS Balewadi. Excursions are to imbibe what is not in books or to learn better and experience first hand what all we study.

Fire service is one of the three main emergency services in the country. GMP students were taken to the Fire brigade museum. They were astonished to witness different equipment, tools, wrenches, and spanners in addition to hard training and skills firemen undergo to rescue a civilian. Children were informed about many different tricks and techniques to help anyone and everyone who’s in need, whether you’re a fireman or not. They concluded with a message, everyone is in service to humanity. By the end, firemen presented a skit for students of a locality catching fire and it brought children to the edge of their seats. To conclude their trip, little kids gave handmade cards to those in service as a gesture to what they do to keep us all safe.

Primary classes were taken to a Milkmaid Factory! Children were smitten by the aroma of freshly baked bread and cookies. It was a surprise to students to learn how much manpower, resources and raw material go into the production of cookies they avail so easily from the local market. To see such life-sized machines, and automated processes, children couldn’t help but be in awe to witness all this live. 

Mid level classes got a chance to visit the Science Park. They were equally astonished to see Science as a perspective. The theories we learn and physics formulas we justify, were all there, happening in real life! Students were well versed in the concepts and were keen enough to jot down learnings and observations.. They spent a good time fuelling and filling their curiosities.

Senior classes on the other hand visited fixtures manufacturing company. No matter the age, curiosity fills the person till the brink. The process of production is such- equipment in need, protocol to be followed and a full process with every minute detail amazes how a raw material with a great help of man and labor turns into a full fledged object that can be used to fix other things.

We at GIIS Balewadi believe there's an equally larger world outside the books, and we strive to walk our children on the path by providing them experiences and knowledge they need to take a step further to achieve their aspirations.
