Dear Parents,
Greetings of the day.
It’s the new year and it’s a new beginning for each one of us. The year started with an extremely proud moment for all of us at GIIS Balewadi. We are incredibly proud to share that Mr. Atul Temurnikar, Chairman and Co-founder of Global Schools Foundation, was awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) 2025 by the President of India.
This prestigious award recognises his outstanding contributions to the field of education, particularly in bringing CBSE-affiliated schools to Southeast and East Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan.Mr Atul’s work has positively impacted thousands of students and helped build a global network of schools dedicated to academic excellence. His work in strengthening ties between India and its diaspora through cultural and community connections around the world is also worth celebrating.
The start of the month witnessed an insightful Open House session by Ms. Priya Johari, our GMP Coordinator, as she unravelled the secrets of Smart Parenting. The session was our endeavour in strengthening the most precious relationship—parent and child and creating a nurturing environment where little stars shine the brightest.
The kindergarteners celebrated the festival of Makar Sankranti with a colourful display of India’s cultural diversity. The day beautifully highlighted the essence of this harvest festival, as it is celebrated in various parts of the country, along with its customs, traditions, and significance.
The students of the primary section took part in a couple of Students Exchange Programmes with various schools which revolved around various topics. Such collaborative programmes not only enhance understanding of language concepts but also encourage creativity, expression, and global peer interaction, making learning a truly rewarding experience.
A special mention about Svara Patil from Grade 9C who made her mark by winning the Bronze Medal in the Shot Put event at the Rise Up Female Sports Tournament, organized by Pudhari. Her strength and spirit are truly unstoppable. Heartiest congratulations to her.
The month ended on a creative and artistic note as we celebrated our annual day on 31st January and 1st February 2025. The first day revolved around the theme of Atulya Bharat which celebrated the essence of India's vibrant culture, rich heritage and iconic beauty as we embarked on a journey across Bharat. The theme for the second day was Topsy Turvy Land which made the audience step into a whimsical world of imagination, where dreams come alive and magic knows no bounds.
Warm Regards,
Ms. Munmun Chakraborty
Principal, GIIS Balewadi
