Young Innovators Programme inspires GIIS teams to compete again next year

Two teams from SMART Campus, accompanied by their teacher Ms Radha Ganesh, participated in the Young Innovators Programme organised by Indian Institute Of Technology, Kharagpur, held in October 2018. The teams were selected after stringent process from among over 500 teams from 200 different schools.

The team TechGens with Pratyush and Aekas (8B IGCSE) participated with its project on self-watering plant and the team Green Innovators with Rahul, Ashar and Pandurang (9C CBSE) participated with its project Auto-Bin, a robotic trash collector. Both the teams spent three exciting days interacting with IIT students, professors, and their peers from selected schools across India.

Apart from project presentations, the teams were taken on a tour of the IIT campus, where they visited a Science museum established at the very first building of the campus which was originally built at the site of a prison complex that housed the Indian Freedom fighters. They also visited the Central Library and attended a presentation on Drones and Racing Cars designed and built by the IITians.

The teams returned to Singapore with numerous friends and loads of fond memories and a determination to be a part of the next year’s YIP programme.
