Social Science Week a big draw at SMART Campus

The Social Science Week was celebrated from in October 2018 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Gandhi Jayanti.

Many activities were conducted by the department. A Digital Art Competition was conducted as a new initiative for the students of classes 7 to 12 and parents on the theme &lsquo;The Mahatma I know&rsquo;. The objective was to commemorate the International Day Of Non Violence and reiterate the Gandhian values. The project also provided the opportunity to express their ideas digitally. The winners of the competition were felicitated by Ms. Ela Gandhi on her visit to the campus.

High Commission of India conducted a Quiz on Gandhi in the school. Three outside school teams and one GIIS -PG Smart campus team participated in the quiz. The team PG -Smart Campus bagged the 1st Runner up prize amidst tough competition.

Social Science Projects exhibition was held at MPH2 @ Level 2. Models, posters, PPTs, Imovies were displayed, which were made by the students of classes 4-10 CBSE. The theme was &lsquo;Natural Disaster&rsquo; - Management and redesigning cities to meet the crisis. The project was given as part of the June Holiday Homework. This provided them with an opportunity to showcase their creativity and learning at best.

Students used different materials such as Styrofoam, recycled goods to make their models. Students also presented their ideas using digital medium - PPT&rsquo;s, I-movies and videos were also displayed during the exhibition. All the students from classes 7-10 CBSE visited the exhibition. CIS team members also visited the exhibition and had a very fruitful interactive session with the students who explained their projects in detail.

Lastly,&rsquo; Gandhi&rsquo; Movie directed by Richard Attenborough was shown to students of classes 9 and 10 CBSE on Tuesday, October 9, to make them aware of the contributions and life of the Mahatma.
