SMART Campus students win 'All Rounded Projects' award by the Singapore Kindness Movement

GIIS has always been at the forefront to give back to society in many different ways by actively participating in movements by NGOs and other organisations. One such participation in the kindness movement by the Singapore Kindness Movement brought recognition to our SMART Campus students and teachers. The efforts undertaken by them bagged the “ALL ROUNDED PROJECTS” award for the year 2020.

The Kindness Award Ceremony 2020 felicitated the Kindness Ambassadors for having undertaken various activities that helped in restoring the society from the impact of the pandemic and adjust to the new normal. The students of GIIS made a difference in the lives of people and have pledged to contribute more to the cause.

Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) is a non-government, non-profit organization, as well as a registered charity and Institution of Public Charter. They aim to encourage individuals to internalise courtesy, kindness and consideration. They wish to inspire graciousness through spontaneous acts of kindness, making life more pleasant for everyone and also influence and raise the standards of behaviour and responsibility.

GIIS has been a part of this movement for a very long time. The students along with teachers participate in activities that promote kindness inside and outside of school. Our students have successfully volunteered to arrange food donation drives in collaboration with ‘Food From The Heart’. Amid COVID-19, the students designed logos on disposable masks, the theme being National Day of Singapore. They also made posters, wrote poems, created artwork to pay their respect and gratitude to the frontline heroes.

Kindness is a wave that keeps rolling, and all it needs is one person to start it. One small kind act can cause a ripple effect that impacts an entire community. Be the change you wish to see in the world - this is not only about one person being able to change the world. It is about a movement that can be started from one person acting with intention.

We would like to express our gratitude to all the students, teachers and parents who made this possible despite the difficult times. It is of our continuous effort to support the community and teach our students the importance of community service, kindness and compassion.
