Secondary students exhibit great oratory skills at the 4th Law Summit

GIIS SMART Campus conducted its 4th edition of the annual Law Summit from November 24 to 26 which allowed secondary students to engage in simulated courtroom settings playing the roles of lawyers, jurors, and press reporters. Open to students between grades 9-11, the summit gave them the opportunity to hone their public speaking skills and broaden their understanding of courtroom proceedings.

The three-day-long event saw the participation of over 100 delegates filing subpoenas for witnesses, making intense speeches, and analysing evidence. It featured a total of 5 unique cases including Death by Defamation, Friendly Fire, Home Alone, Russian Roulette, and Guns Galore, and 2 opposing press agencies.

The cases were divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels based on their difficulty levels. The event kept the delegates on their toes and engaged in the courtroom proceedings. Organisers and delegates alike thoroughly enjoyed the event and appreciated the opportunity to interact with other debaters who shared their interests.

Overall It was a successful event and at the end of the proceedings, all the cases were able to reach their verdicts. Apart from honing their oratory skills and participating in debates in the courtroom, the delegates also had a great time playing games, dancing, and interacting with other participants.

GIIS has always emphasised the importance of empowering its students with 21st-century skills which will help them in the future to become global leaders. Platforms like Law Summit helps students hone their skills and develop new ones.
