Nivaan Khandhadia, a student of GIIS SMART Campus, seized his place in World Book of Records - UK for being the youngest child in the world to win 100 awards ( century at 8 ).
Nivaan has been earlier recognised by India Book of Records for playing most number of tournaments by an eight-year-old boy.
Nivaan’s father, Mr Rathin Khandhadia, said, “ for this prodigious and stupendous achievement of Nivaan, we thank GIIS for immense support, his teachers for motivating and encouraging him and his Chess coach Viswanath Sandilya.”
Earlier, Nivaan has been credited with many more awards in chess. He has competed in 84 major Chess championships, played 648 tournament rounds, won a bronze medal in ‘World School Championship’ and a gold medal for India in Singapore ‘National Age Championship’. He earned his Elo rating of 1137 points and World No. 10 position at the age of 8 years, 1 month and 18 days. He recently won two accolades - 4th prize in U9 GCCA tournament and Best Student Award from SMCA for 2019, that made him a winner of total hundred trophies and medals in the field of chess.
GIIS SMART Campus Vice Principal, Ms Rekha Varghese was extremely happy with Nivaan’s achievement and said, “ it’s rather a unique achievement by an eight-year-old boy.”

Nivaan receives overwhelming support from his teachers at school due to which he is able to dedicate the required time and effort in practising chess for tournaments and make a mark for himself.
