Dear Parents,
Greetings!
June is generally a month to detox, relax and regain our mental, physical and spiritual strength to enable us to get ready to further take off with a calendar full of events in July and onwards.
I trust each of you have had a meaningful vacation break, traveling or meeting family and friends, or simply doing things that gave you joy and meaning. Once you are back in the campus, it would be great for your teachers and friends to hear about the various things you engaged in during the vacations.
As school commences on July 4, there is a lot to look forward to in the form of events - GIIS literary/language week, GIIS STEAM week, and the much-awaited GIIS MUN. I am sure many of you have done a lot of preparatory work to be part of these events in one form or the other. Besides for most classes, we will continue to have weekly assessments in the form of cyclic or periodic and the pre-mid-terms for the older students. We are looking forward to many of you having prepared to contribute to the #GIIS GEN-Z Challenge and the # GSF Art Exhibition
July will also see our New Cohort of IBDP Y1 students join us and the entire student leadership module unfolding for the student community, where the student council will canvass digitally for the most coveted positions of leadership and eventually be conferred leadership badges at the investiture ceremony.
Our graduating batch of 2022 will have their farewell ceremony on July 1, where the GIIS fraternity will bid them Adieu and wish them the best for their University.
July will also be a time for the results of our graduating batches be it IBDP or CBSE. We wish to see our students emerge with flying colours. Do remember students, that no matter what, we are always beside you as your well-wishers.
With an array of events and activities, our students will have their hands full. We do hope every student utilises these opportunities to build a strong portfolio for themselves. We also hope parents will encourage them to wholeheartedly participate and nudge them in areas of their interest.
And while all this continues to happen, I invite the student community to continue to demonstrate kindness and empathy towards your friends, especially the new students and their families who will join us in July for the very first time. Being new they may feel lost and need your assistance and guidance until they settle down. Be friends and make them comfortable as their buddies. Remember we do not need to do great things to show kindness. Even small acts of kindness are enough to build a culture of empathy and compassion in our school. I believe you will leave no stone unturned to make it happen.
Wishing you all a fantastic commencement of school after the vacation.
Warm regards
Melissa Maria
