SMART Campus IBDP Year II student Atyantika Mookherjee has added glory to the name of the school by winning the prestigious Diana Award, 2022. Atyantika has received this acclaimed award for her project Red Lotus, which she has founded to advocate sustainable menstruation.
Diana Award is established in the memory of Princess Diana and is awarded to young change-makers around the globe between the age of 9-25 years for their contribution towards humanitarian work and bringing positive changes to the society.
Under her Red Lotus project, Atyantika came up with the concept of Main’ (Hindi for ‘Me’), packs of biodegradable envelopes which were distributed among over 1000 menstruators to encourage environment and people-friendly menstrual waste disposal. Till now, over 4000 disposable packs have been distributed across 10 Indian states.
It is also noteworthy to share that the Red Lotus initiative has been nominated for Pradhan Mantri Bal Shakti Puraskar which is an achievement in itself.
