GIIS SMART Campus students win Platinum at MILCA Award 2022

The MILCA (Most Innovative Low-Cost Automation) award 2022 was organised by the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry), which recognises innovative ideas and concepts in the field of technology. The CII recognises the business potential of the proposed projects, as a way of developing desired skillsets among the future workforce of the digital era.

The final event of the MILCA award took place on January 27, 28, and 31 with 65 presentations given by students, institutions, and researchers. Praneeth Suresh and his team won the platinum award in the Student Category for building an app called UniC which stands for University Connect, under the theme of Smart Services. Pratyush Bansal (Team Leader), Prakamya Singh, and Rahul Rajkumar, are the other members of the winning team.

The app offers a platform wherein new students can connect with existing students and alumni helping them settle in the new environment smoothly. The platform also enables students to seek guidance from seniors while finding part-time jobs. It acts as a bridge between millions of students around the world bringing them closer and helping them fight issues such as loneliness while being away from home.

Currently, the app is aiming at the Singaporean market, wherein there are almost 24,000 students studying abroad. They believe the app will be beneficial for the universities and institutions as well since they will be able to reach out to their target audience easily.

Achievements like this encourage us to continue our endeavour of nurturing our students with a holistic learning framework, wherein they excel in areas beyond academic excellence and lead their way to a brighter tomorrow.
