The students of GIIS SMART Campus participated in and won various awards at the Sony Creative Science Award 2021.
The Sony Creative Science Award, an annual competition that the students have always participated in, aims to develop and promote interest as well as creativity in Science amongst primary school students in Singapore. It also provides an opportunity to learn Science beyond the classroom, in a fun and enjoyable way. In this competition, primary school students are invited to use their imagination and creativity to make toys that demonstrate scientific principles.
The students who participated this year have indeed showcased their talents and put their theoretical knowledge to good use, winning various awards and accolades.
In the Junior Whizkid category for students of Primary 1 and 2, Samar Azharuddin Reshma won the Special Award for "Shadow Puppet Theatre". A Merit Award was also given out to Mugdha Akkinapragada for "Sailing Yacht Adventure".
In the Whizkid category for students of Primary 3 to 6, Haresh Venkata Narayanaswamy won the Commendation Award for "Spin, Toss and Win".
The teachers were also recognized for their efforts and hard work. Ms Ruchika Shabi was awarded the Diamond Award while Ms Komal Agarwal and Ms Arunasree Gottivedu were awarded the Blue Ribbon Award, for their constant efforts and support for the students.
GIIS has always emphasized the importance of education that spans beyond the classroom. The 9 GEMS pedagogy implemented in every campus ensures an all-rounded educational experience that incorporates theoretical as well as practical, application-based learning. Through opportunities such as this, the students get to put their classroom knowledge to good use, making sure to gain an indepth understanding of the subject in a fun and interactive way.
