Dear Parents,
As we reflect on the month of May, we wanted to take a moment to update you on the exciting events and achievements that have taken place in school. Students are settling into their routines remarkably well and teachers are working to provide a nurturing and engaging learning environment that GIIS is known for. Least to say, we are pleased that the students are responding positively.
Throughout the month, we have organised a series of impactful events and workshops aimed at providing our students with valuable experiences and opportunities to grow as individuals and leaders. Here are some of the highlights:
- Legendary cricketer, Mr Kapil Dev shared invaluable experiences and insights with our students which served as a source of inspiration, igniting the spark of leadership within each student.
- Student-led workshops and events on various subjects equipped our students with life skills. GIIS Tech Club conducted workshops and introduced young minds to the exciting world of coding and programming & GIIS Aviation Club organised a school trip to the RCAF Air Force Museum and also invited students from grades 7-9 to showcase their creativity as well as their understanding and passion for aviation in a competition-style event. This was a great learning opportunity not only for those interested in the fields of aviation and aerospace, but for everyone with an inquisitive and curious mind.
- Community outreach programmes like blood donation camps, and clothes & e-waste collection drives served as a wonderful way of encouraging our students to be principled, caring, and open-minded.
- As part of the Parent Engagement programme, we organised a webinar on ‘How to strengthen your child's emotional intelligence’.
- It was a momentous occasion, as we officially appointed our Middle School student leaders for the academic year in a meaningful investiture ceremony.
Students of CBSE 10 and 12 have performed exceptionally well in the recently concluded Board exams and we are immensely proud of their accomplishments.
In addition to their academic achievements, our students have excelled in various extracurricular activities, representing our school with pride. The team of students who participated in the Envirothon competition emerged as national-level winners and will represent Singapore at the Envirothon International competition to be held in Canada in July. Our athletics team did us proud by winning the -Overall runners-up in the Athletic Conference of Singapore International Schools (ACSIS) championship.
We believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals, and we are grateful for the continued support from parents in fostering their children's holistic development.
A new beginning often comes with the culmination of something else. School life for our graduating class of CBSE 12 and IBDP Year 2 students came to an end with heart-warming and joyous scenes at the graduation ceremony. GIIS wishes them success and happiness in all their future endeavours.
So until we reassemble after the break on July 3, 2023, here's wishing you all a happy vacation!!
Regards,
Sheeja KP
