Many students today dream of pursuing higher education from countries that offer great academic and employment opportunities to the students. These dreams are often left unfulfilled due to the lack of knowledge or insufficient information that hinders their decision of choosing the right college or university. They usually don’t know where to begin, who to contact, and how to file the perfect application that could get them to their desired college or university. This may also result in losing out on an opportunity that they have been waiting for.

The United Kingdom, over the past decade, has emerged as one of the most preferred locations for students wanting to study abroad. To provide our students across all GIIS India campuses, an opportunity to understand what all goes behind making their dream of studying in UK universities a reality, a virtual session was organized by the school authorities in collaboration with Foreign Education Consultants - UKStudylinks.

The session was attended by students from GIIS campuses in Noida, Ahmedabad, Pune, and Bangalore along with their parents to interact with the representatives from various participating Universities, and understand the process of enrollment and the variety of courses students can choose from as per their interests and academic background. This session was the third in the series of the ‘UK Focus sessions’ organized by GIIS India. The earlier two-session had students interacting with representatives from 7 other universities around the UK, Europe, and Canada like University of Bradford, Aberystwyth University, UWE Bristol, University of South Wales, Coventry University, BHMS Switzerland in Europe, Crandall University of Canada, etc. 

The session began with the introduction of the representatives from the University of Southampton, University of Gloucestershire, Study Group UK, etc. The two-hour-long session also had representatives from the Education Consultants discussing the process of entry into different universities, the predefined course fee, the application process, and various scholarships being offered, followed by a detailed presentation by each of the representatives from the participating Universities. Their presentations focused on the best time to apply to these universities, the application process, eligibility criteria, and required proficiency tests scores, the courses offered, estimated tuition fee and living expenses, campus life and facilities, placement opportunities, information on a post-study work visa, student support and post COVID requirements, among many other.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Sunita Jaisingh - National Academic Head, GIIS India said, “ it is a perfect opportunity for our senior students to understand what all goes in while planning for a career overseas. Students along with their parents must utilize this opportunity to understand and evaluate their choices while exploring some regular as well as offbeat courses. The idea is to make our students well versed with all the information that can help them in making an informed decision and proceed with a choice that elevates their career and professional growth. We plan to continue the series by bringing in more universities from other parts of the world too”.

After the culmination of the presentations, queries from the students and parents were addressed by the respective representatives to help the attendees gain in-depth knowledge of the career options available in the UK.
