Teaching is not a seven-hour job that starts at eight in the morning and ends at three in the afternoon. It a lifelong service for every educator who decides to dedicate their life to the welfare and well-being of children.
This is the kind of approach that well suits our educator Ms. Sweta Bhatia who believes in learning each day, and has been doing so for the past sixteen years into the profession. She is willing and eager to learn things beyond her scope of work and skillset that makes her one of the best teachers of the pre-primary wing at Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida.
Ms. Bhatia is actively involved in a lot of activities in the school (apart from teaching) like annual curriculum planning, lesson plan making, comparing in events, inter campus competitions and trainings, etc. She is known for her vibrant nature and innovation in planning different activities at school over the past three and a half years.
She was awarded as the GIIS Star Teacher Award 2020-21 and has also been elected as Employee of the month for her sincerity, dedication and passion towards the profession. Let’s find out more about her journey as she shares her experiences she has had over the years as an educator:
“It has been a great experience and I have learnt a lot. I am always looking forward for more opportunities to showcase my capabilities and talent, and unfold my learning further. My goal is to create an atmosphere that fosters learning. I am an instructor because I have a passion for guiding my students through the learning process. In addition to the passion for the subject material I present, I tend to encourage learning by creating a relaxed environment for students where I like listen to them, guide them and encourage them to come out of their nutshell and interact with different people around them. Stimulating conversations about concepts being presented and organizing material and equipments in a way that appeals to the learners, and makes it easier to understand is what I want to do for whole of my life.”
Her aim is to help students attain an optimal perceptual and motor, cognitive and socio-emotional level of readiness in formal education and the life ahead. She also wishes to create a positive environment for students where they can smoothly adapt to the changing environment, and explore the world through their own ways and processes.
When asked about her vision and mission as a teacher, she said – “My vision is simple, I want what’s best for my students. I want to provide an environment in which they can feel comfortable while they learn. They need to understand that it is through mistakes and gentle correction that they learn. I want the students to genuinely enjoy classes so that they come to class with a smile on their faces. To achieve this, I employ a number of fun and innovative activities to make sure that the students remain curious as to what is coming next.”
She thinks continuous improvement and innovation is one of the key steps for education in the 21st century, so she hopes to impart to students a learning that is everlasting and holistic.
We wish Ms. Sweta Bhatia all the best for her future endeavors. May she achieve all that she has envisioned for herself and her students in future. GIIS Noida is glad to have teachers like her onboard.
