Namami Gange - Let’s work towards saving Ganges; Annual Presentation Fest by grade 6-9

The positive ambience of Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida witnessed the glitz and glamour of Annual fest celebration on the theme 'Namami Gange' that was a celebration of talent and expression held in February 2020. The performances were primarily based on the Nine Gems framework showcasing various aspects of learning acquired by each child at GIIS.

Mrs. Arushi Pokhriyal Nishank, an internationally acclaimed classical dancer, entrepreneur, and film producer, was the chief guest to witness the presentation by the school students. Mrs. Arushi Nishank is also a Kathak empanelled artist of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), an active member of the Namami Gange programme of Government of India and also the founder of the ‘Sparsh Ganga campaign’.

The function was also presided over by Director Operations, GIIS India - Mr. Rajiv Bansal, National Academic Head- Ms. Sunita Jaisingh, Principal - Mr. Ganesh Sharma, and other dignitaries from the school.

The annual presentation was in the campus with a cultural programme organized by teachers and students, highlighting the initiative by government of India and creating awareness about it in a creative and engaging way.

Mrs. Arushi in her speech appreciated the fact that the school and children have talked about river Ganga and how pollution is killing the river. She also talked about saving the river, in fact all that the Nature offers us and why is it important for us to adopt sustainable living. She urged to the students, teachers and parents to take pride in their culture and heritage, and invited them to be a part of the ‘Sparsh Ganga’ Campaign.

While addressing the gathering, the Principal congratulated the teachers and students for putting up such a spectacular show. He appreciated the fact that the students have smartly carved a niche for themselves. Further adding to his thoughts, he emphasized that students should not only be imparted excellent education but good values too. He then requested the parents to witness the creative exhibition put up by the students of different clubs and appreciated the 'Sports Drill' executed by the students and sports teachers at the end of the programme on stage.

The performances were executed impeccably under the guidance of our caring and friendly teachers. The scripts were especially re-created to suit the understanding of the students of various age groups. The students brilliantly created and presented a myriad of performances that moved the parents witnessing the show.

Lastly, award prizes in the Academic as well as Co-Curricular areas were presented to the students. Nearly ten students from classes 6-12 were felicitated on stage for their achievements. The programme culminated with the National Anthem. The function was a grand success and was appreciated by one and all.
