“Celebrate endings - for they precede new beginnings.” - Jonathan Lockwood Huie
Dear Parents,
March usually is the busiest month of the academic session. Examinations were the main focus of this month as each segment i.e. primary, middle, secondary and senior secondary students gave their final exams online. Grade X and XII students appeared for their pre-boards both online and offline. Students who had opted for offline mode gave examinations in school by following all the social distancing norms issued by the Ministry of Health, India.
In terms of activities, we conducted orientation programs to acquaint the parents with the curriculum and pedagogies used at GIIS. The little munchkins of K2 graduated to the primary wing with a grand graduation day ceremony that was organized virtually. Each child was awarded with titles suiting their personalities as they marched ahead of their academic journey. Students from the primary wing, besides appearing for their final evaluation, were engaged in activities like community outreach program that educated them with their roles and responsibilities towards the weaker section of the society. International Happiness Day was celebrated by grade 3-5 students where they taught themselves and the people around them to be happy despite the hardships of life. Such young souls, teaching grown-ups the actual essence of life was surreal to experience.
At GIIS, teachers are the pillars who have held the organization upright. Each one of them has shown tremendous adaptability to the sudden change in the mode of education, and imparted the best of education to the students. I am extremely proud of the efforts they have put in to help the students bridge the unsaid gap between the online and offline modes. Recently, to appreciate and applaud the efforts made by the teachers, two of the faculty members from the campus were rewarded for their exceptional contributions in developing and maintaining educational standards during the Covid 19 times by Universal Business School, Mumbai.
On the achievements front, there has been no looking back. Each month gets us a new victory to rejoice and be grateful for. For March, it was Kunal Kedarnath Jha, a science student of grade 12, who got selected by the Physical Education Foundation of India (PEFI) to play for the Delhi state nationals. He will be playing the finals in April 2021 and we hope that he displays the best of his skills and caliber on the field.
Lastly, with the new academic session 2021-22 that unfolds in a few days, I would like to thank each one of you for your continued support and faith in us. It has helped us sail through these tough times, and motivated the teachers to keep doing their best. Keep supporting us like you always have as we keep improving our ways of providing our students the best every time.
Regards,
Ganesh Sharma
Principal, GIIS Noida
