Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida carried out a cleanliness drive to support the “Clean India, Green India” movement. Students from classes 3-10 carried out the task of cleaning the school premises to instil a sense of responsibility and hygiene among themselves.

Students were asked to bring hand gloves, face masks, dusting cloths, hand sanitizers for their protection and hygiene.

Students of grade 3-5 learned about hygiene and cleanliness through this activity. The importance of keeping the classroom clean, not littering school surroundings, having lockers, cupboards and desks clean were showed and explained to them. Students later cleaned their school ground, canteen, play area, desks, chairs, classroom doors, lockers, cupboards, boards etc. with a lot of enthusiasm and felt satisfied.

This activity was an opportunity for grades 6-10 students to look in and around their school premise and check whether the hygiene measures are being followed or not. Like the younger lot of the school, they too cleaned their desks, chairs, classroom doors, lockers, cupboards, boards etc.

They also made some beautiful and realistic posters on 'How to save Nature & Environment'. Their work depicted the importance and need for maintaining a clean and hygienic life.

Students cleaned the school ground, canteen area, play zone etc. by picking up trash, dusting and arranging stuff in an organised way.

This activity served as a perfect way of making the students informed and aware of the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' mission. Since our values are deeply rooted and connected with the Gandhian values, this activity helped our students in relating and understanding one of the major Gandhian value of self-help in their life.

Students also realised the efforts the school support staff puts in to keep the school clean and tidy. They had a new sense of respect for them and their services.
