Competitions play an important role in motivating students to perform better and excel in life. It offers a lot more than just winning a prize. It’s like a stepping-stone to achieving greater things in life.
To encourage children and to motivate them to enhance their speaking skills and vocabulary, Lotus Valley School, Noida organized an Inter-School Story Telling competition. The competition was organized for kindergarten students. Our pre-primary student, Kimaya Chahar bagged the first position in the virtual storytelling competition that had hundreds of students participating from various schools of Noida.
The competition was in the English language in which each child had to present their story within two minutes of time including their introduction. Two students from Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida participated and presented their part with great confidence and poise.
Both the participants i.e. Hitansh Madhav and Kimaya Chahar narrated the story with creative and innovative props and costumes. They narrated their stories beautifully by incorporating various techniques like voice modulation and were even dressed up according to the character to enhance their play and delivery of the act.
The story enactment was recorded and shared online with the officials of Lotus Valley School for further screen and shortlisting of the winners. The entries were judged on the basis of clarity of speech, voice modulation, props and costume, fluency and confidence while speaking, and the creativity and critical thinking applied while delivering the performance.
Storytelling brings language learning alive and creates a participatory and immersive experience that allows young learners to enjoy hearing the language in a dynamic and entertaining way. This competition was a perfect opportunity for our children to exhibit the skills they have learned in the past couple of years of learning. What’s impressive is that students like Kimaya have not only perfected their skillset and speech delivery at such a young age but have managed to excel in such unprecedented times like these.
