Dear parents,
I hope you and your families are safe and healthy at home.
The month of July was one of the busiest and overwhelming months at GIIS Noida. The month began with a webinar on Cyber security by a renowned Cyber expert - Prof. Gourav Rawal. With the current scenario of staying at home and relying on the internet for almost everything, has diversified the chances of innocent people falling prey to various cyber crimes. The expertise and knowledge shared during the session came handy for the parents to understand ways of controlling their child’s online time and making it more safe and positive. Mr. Rawal discussed a lot of scenarios and examples to keep the innocent safe from the unwanted cyber threats at all times.
Activities based on the principles of universal values and ethics kept students of the pre-primary wing occupied throughout the month. Plantation Drive, human values week, virtual trip to botanical garden, i-care activities, wellness webinar, etc. were some of the key highlights that focused on preparing these young minds for their roles and responsibilities ahead.
The primary segment students on the other hand aced their communication and presentation skills via an assortment of activities that focussed on improving their knowledge and implementation of linguistic skills in both English and Hindi. We also conducted our first set of exams for grades 1-5 using Google classrooms, Kahoot quiz on all subjects, periodic tests, etc.
This month has been extremely special for the senior students, particularly for the grade 12 students, their parents, and teachers. The CBSE board examination result for grade 12 were declared and the 2020-21 batch which happens to be the second batch of grade 12 graduated with flying colors. We once again achieved 100 percent results across Science, Commerce, and Humanities streams with the school topper getting a whopping 95.4 % followed by 92% and 91.6 % on the second and the third spot respectively. Six students got above 90% and fifty percent of the batch scored 80% and above, which is commendable.
Class XII is a key milestone in a student’s academic journey as it forms the basis of future vocational learning and career choices. Admissions in the undergraduate courses across India and abroad are dependent on these results, which will allow students and their parents to prepare for entrance examinations and finalise admission in their college/university/course of choice. Playing the critical role of bridging the knowledge and counselling gap for students while they transition from school to universities, we have been constantly organizing a series of Career guidance webinars and University fairs where students got an opportunity to interact with the best-in-class global and Indian universities to explore admission possibilities and understand processes and protocols in detail and prepare for the associated formalities.
Grade X results were also announced very recently, and I am glad to share that our students scored really well. We have once again achieved 100% percent pass results. The school topper has bagged a whopping 95.6 % followed by 2nd and 3rd rank holders scoring 95.4% and 95 % respectively. Around 22 students, accounting to about 40% of the batch have scored above 90% and over 60% of the students from the batch have achieved 80% and above marks.
The result is extremely close to my heart amid the uncertainty, confusion, and anxiety that prevailed among the students due to the cancellation of the final exams which caused a lot of distress among them as they had been preparing day and night for their final board exams. We could sense the discomfort and confusion that our students had been experiencing, and also in our teachers who were equally involved with the students in preparing them for their finals. But I am glad that my students sailed through this tough phase smoothly. They displayed maturity, resilience, and optimism and didn’t lose hope, instead they kept doing their hard work and round of revisions with complete focus.
All this wouldn’t have been possible without the continuous support and encouragement from all our parents and teachers. So, I would like to congratulate not only my students but my teachers and the parents as well who took the ongoing difficult scenario as a challenge and emerged victoriously. This victory is certainly ours, achieved together.
Lastly, I would like to mention that to ensure a regular engagement with our parents, we have been frequently organizing webinars and knowledge sessions on some of the very pertinent subjects. Like last month, I did a podcast with a well-known educationist Ms. Sushma Raturi, on Healthy Mind, Happy Child to bring forth the value of health education and consciousness for students. This will soon be available on our Social media channels as well. The previously conducted webinars were streamed live on our official Facebook and YouTube channels. There are more that have been planned in this month as well. I am sure you will gather a lot of insights and takeaways from these.
To sum up, this month was all about learning to evolve with time, progression, and success for us.
Regards,
Ganesh Sharma
