NOIDA, 25 MAY, 2019 - Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida celebrated its Investiture Ceremony for the current academic session in the school campus with a lot of exuberance and gaiety. It was a day to remember as young office bearers took oath to perform their duties with complete justice and valour. This special day was graced by Col. Pankaj Dhingra - HR professional with three decades of experience in the defence and private sectors. He was accompanied by Ms. Sunita Jaisingh - National Academic Head, GIIS India and Mr. Abhishek Mukherjee - Sr. Manager Admissions, GIIS India. Mahatma Gandhi once said - “A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission, can alter the course of history”; taking inspiration from the quote the newly elected office bearers marched their way into the multipurpose hall with elated spirits and heads held up high. The Academic award ceremony was also conducted during the event to felicitate the scholastic and co-scholastic achievements of students in the previous academic year. Beginning with one of the most prestigious events in the history of school events, every occasion begins at the Noida campus with a special rendition to the Almighty. An invocation piece named Allarippu in Bharatanatyam was performed by the school girls on stage to mark their respect and seek blessings from the Goddess of knowledge, art, music, and wisdom - Maa Saraswati. Soon after, the elected council marched ahead on the drum beats to take their position and swear to work for the welfare and betterment of the students, the teachers, and every individual who has a role to play in smooth functioning of the school. Mr. Ganesh Sharma - Principal, GIIS Noida administered the oath taking process followed by each member of the student council swearing to work towards the progress of the institute in all aspects. The school council was led by Nehal Kaul (Head Girl) and Pratham Chhabariaa (Head Boy) who presented the acceptance speech to the audience present. The new office bearers stood united to present the courage song that displayed their vision and attitude towards the newly assigned duties. With lit candles in their hands and sparkle in eyes, it was so very mesmerizing. Speaking on the occasion Col. Dhingra said - “Leader is the one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way. He emphasised on the importance of having a vision, only then can an individual work towards its fulfilment. If one knows where they want to reach in life and practice values like honesty, empathy, integrity, and confidence then that person is fully capable of leading people towards betterment and success.” In the true spirit of Democracy, the council was elected through a proper election process in which the students participated along with the teachers. Each student from grade 6 onwards took part in the voting process that was held in the second week of May, 2019. Students went to the polling station to cast their vote; each voter was marked on fingers to ensure that there was no duplication of votes and the process is carried out smoothly. This process inculcated the practical and theoretical knowledge of power sharing through different posts in the school cabinet and also practicing the right to vote to understand its importance in one’s life. |
