Grand mothers and mothers team up to become super chefs; GIIS Noida hosts cooking competition in association with IIHM Delhi

Given the gigantic diversity in different aspects of India, the diversity of cuisines is not less known. From different states and territories having their own specialities in terms of food, it becomes important to recognise all these delicacies equally. GIIS Noida, thus hosted an event to create awareness amongst the children about our diverse cultures and the amazing food associated with each.

The school authorities organized this event in collaboration with IIHM, Delhi in the school premises. The enthusiastic moms and grand moms of students from grade 3 to 5 participated whole-heartedly in the cooking competition. The charm of the programme was evident in the creativity shown by the participants. The arena was filled with various fragrances of the authentic flavors of India along with tempting presentations of the delicacies.

The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by our honorable Principal Sir, respected vice Principal ma’am, upper primary coordinator Ms. Sonia Singh and other segment co-ordinations and eminent guests i.e. the chefs from IIHM,Delhi. 

Our honorable Principal Sir, Mr. Ganesh Sharma, then, addressed the audience with his words of wisdom and welcomed them all. Further, the children sang a lovely song in the welcome of the guests and presented a zestful dance to greet everyone.

The competition consisted of two rounds, first being the introduction round wherein the participants presented a short description about the dishes prepared and the second being the tasting round where the judges had a tough time deciding on the winners.

Meanwhile, there was also a knowledge boosting quiz for the chef moms wherein our guest chefs demonstrated a session on ‘Healthy Salad Making and Presenting’ and presented a demo of preparing-“ Feta Cheese salad” which was highly commendable.

Finally, it was time to announce the results and declare the winners. The participants' efforts were recognized by giving away participation certificates to everyone along with a few merit certificates, two consolation prizes, one special prize and top three leading position prizes.

Further ahead an inspirational vote of thanks was given by the segment coordinator Ms. Sonia Singh ma’am. 

With this the event came to end with successfully achieving the aim of making children familiar with the cultural diversities and engraving in them, love and respect, for each of these cultures.
