GIIS, Noida believes in encouraging students’ talents and skills right from the beginning of their formal schooling. Students are guided and mentored by the faculty and trained by industry professionals in their field of interest. Each kind of talent is of great value and importance to us.
As Dean Evans Co-Founder of the Football Centre said "Sport teaches us development. It helps us learn resilience, leadership, accountability, respect, and patience. Lessons that sports teach us can help us develop as players and all-around good people too."
Our school took part in the CBSE Zone-1 Judo Championship which was hosted in Modern Public School, Noida. Where more than 650 students participated. Students from all over Northern India were present for example Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. Official weight trials were conducted before the competition was conducted.
It was a proud privilege and challenging journey to be a part of a competition with more than 65 schools with 749 competitors transforming the school into a comfort zone - a home and stadium for fighting arena for participants for 4 continuous days and organizing 4 days of CBSE North Zone I Judo Championship.
The executive Guest Mrs. Vandana Tripathi, IAS, O.S.D (officer on special duty), Noida Authority; Dr. Bishwajeet Saha, Director - Skill Education & Training, C.B.S.E. as Chief Guest and Prof. Ravikant Swami as Presiding Guest, Director & Dean of D.M.E Management School; Ms. Anita Nagar, Deputy Sports Officer, Gautam Budh Nagar as the Guest of Honour inaugurated the event. It was held from 7th to 9th December 2022.
Harsh Yadav from 10th A took part in the under 17, minus 90 kgs category. Rishabh from 10th A participated in the under 17, minus 81 kg category. Girika from 5th C participated in the under 11, minus 41 kg category. Our students took part with zeal and confidence and brought home bronze medals for giving their 100%. Not only that, our school’s sports head Ms. Sakshi Gupta was appointed as the Technical Official of the tournament.
The competition ended with a closing ceremony in which the students performed a wonderful Konkani dance and the distribution of awards. Being a part of such a big competition, surely was a proud moment for us all.
Sport has the power to provide a universal framework for learning values, thus contributing to the development of soft skills needed for responsible citizenship. It teaches fairness, teamwork, equality, discipline, inclusion, and perseverance. We at GIIS always encourage and motivate our students to give in their 100% in whatever they do in academics, sports, or otherwise.
