In a heart- warming gesture of compassion and empathy, grade 11 and 12 students of the Interact Club at GIIS Noida paid a visit to the Aangan Old Age Home in Noida.
During their visit, the students got the opportunity to engage with the senior residents, talking to them about their life stories, cherished memories, and experiences. They delved into conversations about school life, learnings, and shared interests such as music, movies, and dreams. The students' sincere interest and enthusiasm created a bond between the young and old that very well bridged the generation gap.
Students even entertained the senior residents by singing beautiful songs from the 80s, and organizing quizzes on movies and songs. The game of Dumb Charades brought laughter and smiles, with winners receiving flowers as tokens of appreciation. In return, the senior residents shared valuable life lessons and messages, emphasizing the importance of respect, hard work, and good character.
The visit also served as an educational experience for the students, as they learned about the significance of retirement homes in our society. They understood the need for such facilities to provide care, support, and social companionship to the elderly who often find themselves neglected and alone. They were now able to relate to the importance of meeting the needs of the elderly in retirement homes, ensuring their well-being and happiness.
Furthermore, students were reminded of the significance of relationships and the responsibility to care for their parents. They were encouraged to shower their parents with unconditional love and support, just as they had received throughout their lives. The visit served as a reminder of the reciprocal nature of love and the importance of being there for one another.
