GIIS Noida outshines at the RWCC 2022 hosted by SMART Campus in Singapore

After two years of virtual collaboration, GIIS Schools come teamed up to celebrate talents by coming together on a common platform - ‘Real World Challenges Convention (RWCC).’ This year GIIS celebrated its 11th year of RWCC in the SMART Campus at Singapore. The inter GIIS competition encourages students across different geographies and nationalities to network, collaborate, and discuss global issues and offer sustainable solutions that are effective and unique at the same time.

RWCC is a global platform that offers students to network with one another, come up with ideas that solve their given problem statement, and present the entire process along with their team members and mentors. This year, the theme of the convention was GAIA – Green And Innovative Alternative for earth in sync with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Each category of the RWCC 2022 was based on one of the many UN SDGs. This year, to support the United Nations SDGs, a sports challenge based on the theme was also organized under the category name – Good Health and Wellbeing.

Students participated in events like Student Conference, Quality Circle Presentations, Transformation Turncoat, OPUS, Smart Strokes, Entrepreneurial challenge, and sports challenge all of which were held physically at campus after 2 years of virtual events.

Students from the GIIS Noida campus participated  and won several accolades in the following categories:

  1. OPUS for GAIA: Participating teams had to create an original musical composition with English lyrics and submit their entry in form of a video recording with the team members performing the composition live.  Grade 4 and 5 students - Aryaman Chabra, Ishnoor Kaur, Advik Gupta, Suryansh Shukla, and Bhuvika participated and won in the first position in the Upper Primary category. They presented a beautiful composition “we are the light” that was composed and written by the school’s music faculty Ms. Haimontee Bhowmick and Punit Bhardwaj.
  2. Innovative Social & Commercial Entrepreneurship – This was an individual category competition where students had to submit their respective business plans, showcase their entrepreneurial talents along with the importance of their business idea.
  3. Smart Strokes- As the name suggests, it was an art competition for the lower and upper primary category; it required students to submit their hand drawn or coloured art pieces on the theme GAIA. Prahlad Badrinath of grade 2 won the third position for his take on the Green And Innovative Alternative for earth.
  4. Valuable Bond – This category of the competition involved both parents and students of GIIS. Participating teams were required to record a video presentation to showcase how they imbibe and nurture values like empathy and gratitude in their families. Advik Shekhawat and Avyukt Shekhawat of pre-primary won second position after competing with several entries from GIIS Schools worldwide.

This year, the RWCC 2022 witnessed more than 900 students from 17 GIIS campuses participating to win with valour and determination. The competition saw participation from students of GIIS India (Noida, Ahmedabad, Balewadi, Bannerghatta, Whitefield, and Hadapsar), GIIS Abu Dhabi, Dubai, KL, SMART Campus, Japan, One World International School, Regent Klang, Regent Kedah, Dwight Korea and NPS International School. The convention was opened to students of all age groups starting from KG to Grade 12 and event engaged parents, teachers and academic leaders from each campus.

These stupendous results are a testimony of the collective efforts that have been put in by our students, teachers and parents. We would to congratulate each member of the GIIS Noida community, for this win is a collective win of us all.
