GIIS Noida opened the magnificent world of raptors to the young minds from grades 3-8

 WWF works to conserve endangered species, protect endangered spaces, and address global threats to the planet such as climate change. WWF has been on a mission of protecting the many critical and rare species along with the and eco-regions of national and global importance. Additionally, they also recognise more significant conservation issues that affect the overall biodiversity of our country.

GIIS Noida students visited the exhibition at WWF centre of the Raptor Conservation with focus on vultures WWF programme i.e. “Raptor Conservation Program-endangered birds and animals” – WORLD WIDE FUND for nature.

Awareness was spread through various photographs, facts and information about the extinct birds like vultures, Eurasian sparrow hawk, Himalayan griffon, changeable hawk eagle, etc. collected from different parts of the country. Students were sensitized about the main highlights of the exhibition which was all about the 60 raptor species. They also discovered the magnificent world of raptors and appreciated the need for their protection and conservation.

The students were divided into 6 groups and were given a topic to prepare a short presentation for the CCA Activity. The topics were related to 2 bird groups each for Eagle, Vulture and Owl. An On-the-spot activity was also conducted to judge how well the students have observed the exhibition. The assigned team leaders made 5 points each for explaining their topics in brief. It’s time to prepare the future citizens to live in harmony with nature. With this mindset, let’s look forward to organize events related to the imparting education for the environment and laying a foundation for building a sustainable future.

The students of Eco Club (grade 6th to 8th) went to visit the World of Wings Auditorium as a part of their club activity. It was an educational and fun filled opportunity for the students to know about various birds that are rare and endangered. As a part of their visit, students were taken through the information and stunning photographs of some magnificent birds of prey like vultures, eagles, etc.

The event yielded fruitful results and created awareness about the extinct birds and animals. It informed the students about various causes of extinction of fauna and helped them to get familiar with the steps that are taken to prevent extinction of vultures, owls and many more birds. The event turned out to be very meticulous and helped the students in making a better ‘tomorrow’.
