GIIS, Noida observed Linguistic Exposition by conducting an array of activities to ignite and fuel the new interest in reading, creative writing and flawless speaking of the language among the students. Many enriching and interesting activities were planned and executed throughout the week in the classrooms. Students from grade 6th to 12th participated enthusiastically in the following activities planned for the event:
Grade VI and VIII: In order to develop reading, writing and creative skills, and to enhance the vocabulary, children were asked to write a few sentences on A4 size sheets. Later cut outs words from the sentences framed by the students were cut and jumbled up. These jumbled words were then exchanged within the groups of students; students were asked to form a sentence using the words given and pasted those cut outs on another A4 size sheet in the form of meaningful sentences.
Grade IX to XII: In order to develop speaking and writing skills and to enhance the personality development aspect, students of grade IX to XII were asked to write a story using the opening line “Once upon a time in India…….” in which they wrote about all the developments and changes that have taken place in India since our independence in the form of a story.
Grade VI to XII: Children from grade VI to XII were asked to compose a poem on the theme “Patriotism”. Later they recited their poems in the class; best entries of the lot were asked to recite their work in the special assembly held at the culmination of the literary week.
Lastly, a special assembly was organized where the students’ creativity during the week was showcased and the results of the competitions were announced. A skit written by William Shakespeare “King Lear'' was presented by the students. Best poem composed by a student of grade 9 -Ishani Chawdhurywas recited and the best story written by Aayushi Singh of grade 12 was also narrated during the assembly.
This culmination assembly was applauded and appreciated by all. Segment Coordinator Ms. Madhuri Kaw applauded the efforts of the students and reiterated the importance of promoting and understanding languages in today's global world.
This event proved to be quite enriching as children got an opportunity to learn a lot of new skills and enhance their vocabulary and pronunciation.
