NOIDA, 18 FEBRUARY, 2019 - Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida, celebrated its Annual Day for the academic year 2018-19. This occasion also marked GIIS’s entry into 17th year of excellence in education. The event was graced by Dr. Joseph Emmanuel, Director (Academics), CBSE Delhi, along with Dr. Biswajit Saha, Director (Training & Skill Education), CBSE and Mr. Manish Agarwal, Deputy Secretary RO Officer-CBSE Delhi and Regional Officer, Noida.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Rajiv Bansal, Director - Operations, GIIS India said, “As part of our unique NINE Gems Holistic learning framework, our focus is always on overall development of students. The Annual Function celebration is just a way to inspire and motivate students to develop their personality as well as polish their linguistic skills. It gives us immense pleasure to see the students writing, directing and performing the plays. The parents were completely enthralled & mesmerized by the confident performances of the students and their pride was the biggest achievement for us.”
The event was an interesting amalgamation of creativity, craft and brilliant performances. The theme of the event was ‘IMAGICA’, focusing on recreating the imaginary world of Disney characters. Students also paid tribute to international dance forms, where more than 1000 students’ participated and over 700 parents witnessed the 2-day function, along with the GIIS family.
Keeping in view the upcoming exam season, Dr. Joseph Emmanuel, Director (Academics), CBSE Delhi, shared his insights on the impact of technology on students and said, “The evolution of technology should be utilized to strengthen our knowledge base and that of our fellow citizens. It should not make us isolated and narrow minded. Technology should be used to communicate effectively, whether it is with the family, the institution or the government.”
Also present at the event, Dr. Biswajit Saha, Director (Training & Skill Education), CBSE said, “CBSE’s focus is moving from examinations to learning and this can only happen with equal participation from the parents and the schools. The current generation of students will be employable in 2035 and therefore, schools need to be futuristic and incorporate the 21st Century learning techniques in today’s education system in order to build leaders of tomorrow.”
All the performances this year were in a musical dance and drama format and laid emphasis on developing student’s language, narration skills and personality development. Acts (Plays) were presented by students on famous Disney stories of Rapunzel, Mickey & Minnie, Frozen, Cinderella, The Lion King, Self-composed story of Jenny a specially-abled dancer that paid homage to 7 famous international dance forms, Jungle book and Maleficent. The senior classes also brilliantly executed performances on Jazz and Bodhisattva (Chinese) dance form.
The performances were executed impeccably under the aegis of the teachers. The scripts were especially re-created to make it suit the understanding of the students of various age groups. The students brilliantly created and relived the magical and heartwarming adventures of Disneyland and proudly presented myriad of performances on stories loved by all age groups.
Happy parents were cheering students as they performed on stage with absolute perfection and demeanour. And what added to our delight were the numerous appreciation messages we received from the parents expressing their happiness on what they saw and felt during those two hours of emotional extravaganza on stage.
One of the parents shared their happiness and said – “Hats off to the entire GIIS Noida team for hosting such a lovely Annual Day function. It was very well organized and way beyond our expectations. We were extremely delighted to see our daughter performing on the stage. Every teacher had prepared every kid to the best - be it the practice, the make-up, the choice of dress or the performance. Kudos to the teachers and the kids. The huge efforts of teachers and the organizing team was clearly visible.”
It’s eventually the happy faces of Kids and satisfied parents, which keeps us motivated to innovate new ways to do things better, every time.
