Sanskrit language is deeply rooted in Indian culture due to its presence and connection with the ancient Indian civilization and literature. Sanskrit literature is one of the most relative and practical literatures available today that  lay the very foundation of our cultural heritage and traditions. 

At GIIS Noida, Sanskrit is offered as a second language to secondary students wanting to learn the language in-depth from grade 8 onwards. 

To demonstrate the importance and the long lasting impact the language holds, GIIS Noida celebrated Sanskrit Week for the students of the secondary segment. The objective was to keep alive the feeling of pride in our ancient language that is also the basis of many popular languages like English, French, Spanish, etc. 

Through an inspiring address by the Principal, the assembly began on a positive note and was followed by lamp lighting and Sarasvati Vandana “YA KUNDENDU”, creating a feeling of awe among the audience. Senior students talked about the importance of Sanskrit and the need to its widespread use.  After the speeches, an act about the importance of trees was portrayed and the presentation on the 12th chapter of “Bhagvad Geeta” had an alluring effect on the viewers. As the assembly progressed, a graceful classical dance on the theme allured everyone witnessing the event.. The special celebrations ended when the segment coordinator – Ms. Madhuri Kaw shared some light on the significance of our ancient language.

The Sanskrit Week Assembly helped students in understanding the connection of the language with Indian culture and traditions. There was a sense of exaltation visible throughout the students, as they now had a better understanding of the language and wanted to pursue it. This special event, which observed the conclusion of Sanskrit week, was a benchmark to inculcate the love towards this unique language. It not only gave the participants a chance to polish their speaking skills but also enhanced their confidence.
