GIIS Noida adopts families of the Jewar District

At Global Indian International School(GIIS), Noida we motivate our children to inculcate values like kindness, empathy and resilience in themselves, so that they are able to share those values with others around them. Doing our best for the community is in the best interest of our society as a whole as our wellbeing also depends on it. No matter how we do it, giving back to the community surely touches peoples’ lives. Even the smallest of the good deeds can ignite a change and positively impact the community by providing a renewed sense of hope.

The ongoing pandemic has affected the mental and physical wellbeing of people, especially the underprivileged sections of our society. We, at GIIS Noida, have collaborated with an NGO - Hope and Care Foundation Noida, to support families through these difficult times. Under the aegis of “Ek Muthi Aasman” initiative, we have adopted some poor families in nearby villages of Jewar District, Noida. The adopted families are being provided with monthly basic ration, items of hygiene and cleanliness, and other basic necessities like bedding and clothes.

We are extremely thankful to our parents who voluntarily provided us with different kinds of materials that could be shared with so many people in need. The item we collected included Dry Ration/ Edible Dry Food Items- Packets of atta, rice, pulses, sugar, salt, biscuits, school bags, water bottles, notebooks, pencils, soaps, washing powder, toothpaste and brushes, sanitary napkins, masks, blankets, bed-sheets, clothes, and more.

A bunch of our students along with Ms Rachna Jain – Head Mistress, Pre-Primary wing, Sarita Saini - Librarian, and Ajeet Singh – Sports Coach, along with members of the Hope and Care Foundation visited the village Nagla Banjara in Jewar District, Noida to distribute the collected items. They began their day by visiting a primary school in the village and distributing stationary, books, biscuits and noodle packs to the children. The GIIS team also interacted with some of the students and sensitized them with some health and hygienic practices which must be followed for a healthy life. Later on, the GIIS Noida team visited few homes to distribute the essentials.

This project will be continued for 6 months. By providing basic material to the adopted families on a long term basis, we will intend to support their transition from a very difficult phase of their lives. Each month, students and staff from the campus will be visiting the nearby villages to distribute the necessary material and create an awareness about health and hygiene among its people.
