Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida began its new academic session for the pre-primary students with excitement and a lot of enthusiasm as tiny toddlers of the campus join/re-join school with cheerful smiles and chirpy facades to take their first step towards formal education in April 2019. The first day went by settling down the kids in the new environment and playing some ice breaker games that helped them be comfortable in the new set up. Molding clay, singing rhymes, Brain Gym exercises during the circle time, etc. were also carried out to warm up for the formal learning ahead. Listening and concentration skills were also enhanced using various movement exercises like slow and fast clap, rolly- polly, sway your arms, shake your hands, nod your head, blink your eyes, jump up high, laugh out loud, etc. Coloring is a form of creativity and destressing for humans; it serves as a window to show one’s imagination and creativity. Tiny toddlers of the school were engaged in coloring activities they enjoyed thoroughly. As a token of love, a happy handmade cap was given as a take away to the children by their teachers that they had made with great love. Throughout the week teachers created a bond with the kids by interacting with them and patiently listening to their small conversations that made them comfortable in their new environment. They made new friends also. Teachers dramatized different stories like "The Ant and the Grasshopper" and "The Lion and The Mouse" in their classes which was thoroughly enjoyed by the kids. Children had fun in filling colours in fruits and flowers, which helped in enhancing their fine motor skills too. Children were very excited to get smileys and stars on their hand towards the end of the day. All in all, the first week was all about new beginnings for our little stars as they took a step forward learning and creating a new life for themselves. |
