Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida is happy to share that two of the students from the senior segment have made us proud by securing laurels at the All India National Ranking Badminton Tournament.
Sona Ginpaul of Grade 11 participated in the tournament held in Panchkula, Haryana and secured 4th rank in “Junior Boys under 17 singles” category. A total of 747 participants competed in the tournament. It was a tough competition which was divided into three qualifying rounds. Only 64 participants qualified for the first round and Sona was one of them. After that there was no looking back and overcoming all the hurdles, he was finally able to make it to this prestigious position. For this rare achievement, Sona had been working hard and religiously training himself for the past one and a half year. He feels he was lucky to have dedicated expert trainers who groomed him and gave him exposure to reach this remarkable position.
On being asked for his win, Sona gave credit to his parents and teachers for this success of his cause he believes that they have always supported him through thick and thin. He says that he received support of all kinds from his GIIS teachers as well as management that further allowed him to pursue his passion and achieve this milestone. He is highly grateful to all these people who played a significant role in his achievement.
Naina Chauhan from grade 9 secured 5th rank in 1st Ashwani Gupta Memorial All India sub Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament, 2022 organized by Haryana Badminton Association under the aegis of Badminton Association of India. It was held at Panchkula, Haryana. Naina participated in girls’ doubles under 17 category, it was not an easy feat to achieve, she had to qualify 4 rounds to reach this position. She secured 5th rank out of 121 girls who came from different parts of the country to participate.
When asked about her passion for badminton, she revealed that she started playing the game at a tender age of 9 years. Since 2017 she has been getting training herself to perfection. To polish her skills and to achieve much more, she is presently taking three sessions a day of mental as well as physical training where she is learning several badminton skills. Naina’s mantra of success is to stay committed and focused, and work harder every day. She gives all the credit to her parents who have always been supportive of her journey.
Such competitions teach our students the true meaning of sportsmanship and hard work as the game requires complete dedication and devotion of the individual. We wish our aspiring champions all the very best for their future endeavours.
