The start of a new year is always a time for fresh hopes and new dreams, and the students of GIIS Noida brought this message to life in their vibrant assembly, reminding everyone that "New Year Brings New Hope." With the arrival of 2025, GIIS Noida community gathered to celebrate the new beginnings, joys, and festivals that fill the first month of the year with energy and optimism.
The assembly was beautifully hosted by two bright and enthusiastic students, Mitakshi and Agastya, who shared the stage with warmth and confidence. They started the event by explaining the two calendars that India follows, the Gregorian and Saka Samvat, and gave a peek into how different cultures mark the start of the year. They spoke about the excitement that January holds, not just for resolutions but for the many festivals that bring people together with a shared sense of joy and renewal.
The main focus of the assembly was to celebrate these festivals and show how they bring hope and happiness into our lives. The students spoke about important celebrations such as Lohri, Makar Sankranti, and Republic Day, all of which hold deep meanings that inspire a sense of unity and excitement. These festivals not only offer a break from our usual routine but remind us of the beauty of tradition and the joy of starting afresh.
Among the performances, one of the most touching moments came from Mitakshi, who shared a thought of the day in the form of a poem. Her words - “If you think you are beaten; you are” encouraged everyone to believe in their potential and push past obstacles. The audience felt the energy shift as the students poured their hearts into their performances, bringing the themes of hope and new beginnings to life.
Chaitra’s moving poem recitation followed, capturing the essence of a new year’s promise. Then, Ms. Nitya’s soulful rendition of Tu Dhoop Hai filled the room with a sense of hope and warmth.
A highlight of the event was the skit, which featured six creative scenes, each with a dance performance. The skit explored the importance of New Year's resolutions and the festivals that make the beginning of the year so special. The students performed with great energy, making the scenes come to life. Ayaan Chaudhary’s powerful Shiv Tandav dance during the Mahakumbh scene was a particularly memorable moment, showcasing the strength of tradition and faith.
As the assembly drew to a close, students engaged the audience with a fun quiz, allowing them to reflect on the lessons shared throughout the event. The National Anthem ended the assembly on a note of unity and pride, reminding everyone of the strength and hope that lies in coming together as one community.
The students of 6D, guided by their teacher Ms. Garima Agarwal, truly brought the spirit of the new year to life. The assembly was a beautiful reminder that no matter what challenges the year may bring, we can always find hope in new beginnings, in the festivals we celebrate, and in the strength we share as a community.
