Year 10 Students Lead Inspiring World Environment Day Assembly

Cambridge Year 10 students at GIIS KL presented a thought-provoking assembly in honor of World Environment Day (June 5th). Their insightful presentation explored the critical relationship between humans and the environment, emphasizing the need for action to ensure a healthy planet.

Through a well-prepared presentation, the students delved into the impact of human actions on the environment. They showcased the negative consequences of our choices and highlighted the urgent need for change. The presentation posed thought-provoking questions, prompting students to consider the "why" behind environmental protection.

The assembly's focus resonated with several aspects of the GIIS's 9GEMS core values, specifically Gem 5: Innovation and Creativity, Gem 7: Universal Values and Ethics, and Gem 8: Community and Care. The students demonstrated innovative thinking in crafting their presentation, promoting ethical values of environmental responsibility, and fostering a sense of community through shared concern for the planet.

It also aligned with several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – specifically, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 13: Climate Action. By addressing these interconnected goals, the students emphasized the crucial link between environmental health and human well-being.

The assembly concluded with an inspiring video showcasing practical ways individuals can contribute to environmental care. This final message left a lasting impression, empowering all those who attended to become responsible stewards of the environment within their own communities.
