
On Friday, 2nd August 2024, the vibrant students of Standard 1A took center stage on the GIIS KL field to commemorate World Turtle Day. The assembly was a colorful blend of education and entertainment aimed at raising awareness about the plight of these magnificent creatures.
Through engaging speeches and a captivating dance performance, the young environmentalists shed light on the importance of turtle conservation. Students delved into the fascinating world of turtles, exploring their habitats and the numerous threats they face. The assembly served as a platform to instill in students the values of empathy, responsibility, and global citizenship.
Aligned with the GIIS 9GEMS on Visual and Performing Arts (Gem 3), Personality Development (Gem 4), Universal Values and Ethics (Gem 7), and Community and Care (Gem 8), the event significantly contributed to the students' holistic growth. Furthermore, the assembly supported the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Quality Education (SDG 4), Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), and Life Below Water (SDG 14).
The assembly concluded with an inspiring message from the school principal, Ms. Dipti Joshna, who reiterated the importance of protecting turtle habitats and preserving our marine ecosystem.
The event was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on the students and inspiring them to become advocates for turtle conservation.
