GIIS KL recently transformed into a miniature zoo, all thanks to the school's innovative Responsible Week. From August 5th to 9th, the kindergarten students embarked on a heartwarming journey of compassion and responsibility.
The week-long activity centered around the moral value of "responsibility." Each child was entrusted with a tiny, adorable toy duck, which they were tasked to care for like their own pets. Feeding, bathing, cleaning, and creating a cozy sleeping space were just a few of the daily chores these young stewards had to undertake.
Parents were actively involved in the process, observing their children's interactions with their feathered friends and providing guidance using an observation chart. It was a delightful surprise to see how these tiny tots embraced their new roles with such enthusiasm and dedication!
The highlight of the week was the daily parade of ducks as the children brought their pets to school. The sight of a classroom filled with quacking companions was both heartwarming and hilarious. The students' love and care for their ducks were evident, and many parents expressed their admiration for this unique learning experience.
Through this fun and engaging activity, the kindergarteners not only learned the importance of responsibility but also developed a deeper connection with nature and animals. As they nurtured their toy ducks with love and care, they were unknowingly preparing themselves to become responsible citizens who appreciate the value of all living beings.
This activity aligns with GIIS's 9GEMS, specifically Gem 4: Personality Development, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Quality Education (SDG 4).
