GIIS KL Celebrates the Magic of Friendship

On a sunny morning of July 30th, the air at GIIS KL was thick with anticipation. The annual International Friendship Day celebration was about to unfold, promising a day filled with laughter, camaraderie, and a whole lot of fun.

The school's expansive Auditorium and Basketball Court transformed into a vibrant hub of activity as Cambridge students from Years 1 to 10 eagerly gathered. It was a sea of youthful energy, a canvas waiting to be painted with the colors of friendship.

For the youngest learners, Years 1 to 3, the day was a whirlwind of excitement. With eyes sparkling with curiosity, they embarked on a thrilling Scavenger Hunt, their tiny hands clutching clues and their hearts filled with the joy of discovery. Passing the Marble was another test of teamwork, as they giggled and cheered, their tiny fingers working in unison.

Years 4 to 6 brought a new set of challenges. The Hula Hoop became a magical circle of cooperation as students held hands and navigated the hoop around without breaking the chain. Stacking cups with elastic bands turned into a test of patience and precision, while the Fetching Friends game was a riot of laughter and camaraderie.

As the sun climbed higher, the energy levels soared. Years 7 to 10 faced the ultimate test of teamwork with the Human Knot challenge. Arms intertwined, they wrestled with the tangled web of humanity, emerging victorious with renewed respect for each other's problem-solving skills. The Newspaper Balance Challenge was another feat of engineering, as they transformed a single sheet of paper into a platform for unity. And the badminton court became a battleground of friendly competition, where teamwork and sportsmanship reigned supreme.

As the morning drew to a close, the school was filled with the sweet melody of laughter and the warmth of shared experiences. International Friendship Day at GIIS KL was more than just an event; it aimed to promote 9GEMS core values such as Sports Excellence (Gem 2) and Community and Care (Gem 8). The celebration is also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals specially SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.
