Cultivating Body and Mind: GIIS KL Embraces Yoga for Well-being

GIIS KL's Cambridge wing came together on Saturday, June 29th, to celebrate International Yoga Day in a fun and engaging way! Students, parents, and teachers participated in a vibrant yoga session led by our esteemed yoga instructor, Dr. Raj.

The session, held in the school auditorium from 8.15 am to 9.15 am, aimed to spread awareness about the numerous benefits of yoga and aligned perfectly with GIIS KL's 9GEMS Framework. This framework emphasizes well-rounded development, focusing on Gem 4: Personality Development, Gem 8: Community and Care, and Gem 9: Skill Development.

The event also supported the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically; Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3) and Quality Education (SDG 4). The session offered a unique learning experience, promoting an active and healthy lifestyle within the school community.

Dr. Raj guided participants through various asanas (yoga poses) like Pranayama (breathing exercise in lotus pose), Matsyasana (fish pose), Bhujangasana (cobra pose), Chakrasana (wheel pose), Trikonasana (triangle pose), and Naukasana (boat pose). He not only explained the proper form for each pose but also highlighted the associated health benefits, such as improved posture, flexibility, strength, balance, and body awareness.

The event concluded with a relaxing meditation practice, leaving everyone feeling centered and rejuvenated. This collaborative activity fostered a sense of community within the Cambridge wing while promoting a healthy lifestyle for all.
