The Global Indian International School, Indore Campus announced the launch of NIIT Mind Champions’ Academy (MCA) on 24th December 2012. It was inaugurated by the Grand Master of Chess, Mr. Viswanathan Anand. The NIIT Mind Champions’ Academy is a joint initiative between NIIT and Viswanathan Anand.
Clubs and academies formed at GIIS for co-scholastic learning, allows a structured integration of skill sets. Tie-up with NIIT Mind Champions Academy for chess, is one such endeavour to provide a launch-pad to GIIS students to excel in the field of chess.
The occasion was marked by a welcome ceremony by students of GIIS Indore before he inaugurated the MCA. At the MCA he interacted with students and taught them a couple of moves. The children were curious to find out about him and what makes him the chess champion of the world. Vishy (as he is popularly called), is known for his love for children. He encouraged them with his friendly gestures and it was a great moment for the students of GIIS Indore to have met him and learnt from him. Mr. Rajeev Katyal, Country Director, GIIS India said, “The tie-up with NIIT Mind Champions Academy will not only help the children achieve expertise in the game of chess but also the combination of technology and game would enhance multiple skills in the children. This will boost their self confidence and will have a lasting impression on their young minds. I look forward to honing chess champs for the future.”
Mr Katyal welcomed Mr. Anand and spoke on the importance of sports and other activities along with academics as an integrated learning process and Dr Faiqa Saulat Khan, Principal, GIIS Indore Campus thanked him for his presence. She said, “The MCA at GIIS campus will help children to build positive energy, hone their skills and sharpen their thought processes that would help in an over-all growth.” |
