Students Showcase @ 'What Work's by KHDA

'What Works' Dubai is an initiative of KHDA (Knowledge and Human Development Authority - the Govt. agency ) that encourages schools in Dubai to come together for best practice sharing.

GIIS Dubai participated in two projects over the last few months.

The first Project was “Smart & sustainable transport” held in November, 2018. The Project comprised of two main working automobiles:

  • Driverless car prototype: The car was built using Lego and is capable of taking decisions depending on the programming that is done.
  • Massive Constructor: The massive constructors consume a lot of energy which isn’t renewable. An alternate solution is the non-conventional- “Solar Energy”. If the large scale fuel consumption of these massive constructors is replaced with solar energy and Solar reservoir systems; we shall build a better sustainable tomorrow.

The above presentation was done by Anna Annex from grade 6 and Arnav Bhargava, Vanshika Shah from grade 5.

The second presentation was in February 2019, the team from GIIS was a part of the event themed “Being Well Dubai”. Schools and students were invited to present their innovative projects.

There are no dreams too large, no innovation unimaginable and no frontiers beyond the reach of the students of Global Indian International School. Our students Ila Gupta, Aadhyaa Bhann and Amelie Tyagi of Grade 5 had prepared a presentation on the various activities held at school that promotes well-being among students. Their project was one among the very few projects selected from many entries of different schools. It is indeed an honour to GIIS that its project was selected by KHDA to be presented at the event. The students were very proud to present their project to teachers, principals and many visitors who attended the 'What Works' event at Amity University, Dubai.

On both occasions, the students' idea as well as their presentation were appreciated by all.  It proved to be a great platform for students to present the wellbeing initiatives of their school at such an important event.

This showcase of work is also an outcome of the 9 GEMs framework that GIIS teachers and staff constantly work towards developing in each and every individual child. It was indeed a proud moment for GIIS Dubai.
