GIIS 9 GEMS podcasts are all about highlighting inspiring stories of our students excelling in academics, sports, innovation, entrepreneurship and others. The media team at GIIS recently had the opportunity to interview a young and budding singer Shruthi Sethuraman who was not only amongst the first 14 students to enrol in the Shekhar Ravjiani School of Music which recently celebrated its 1 year anniversary but also amongst the 6 students who graduated to level 2.

Shruthi spoke to us about her singing journey and her experiences at the Shekhar Ravjiani School of Music.

17-year-old Shruthi is a passionate singer, who started her singing journey at a very tender age of 4 when she joined Carnatic Music classes. She said her grandmother has been the key force that gave her the momentum to hop on this path. Her grandmother’s beautiful renditions of the songs that Shruthi learnt propelled her knowledge and admiration towards music since childhood and since then there has been no looking back. She learnt 30 Shlokas from her grandmother. She also recited one for us and explained the meaning beautifully.

She then spoke about her experience with the the Shekhar Ravjiani School of Music and how she enrolled in it. He gave her invaluable advices and tips to better her singing and introduced her to various other aspects of music. He helped enhance her strengths and overcome her weaknesses. She was able to widen her horizon and learn more.

Shruthi has high aspirations and she is diligently working towards it. She crosses all her hurdles day by day and emerges victorious by sheer determination. She is very dedicated to her music and she wishes to become an established singer which we are sure of as she has great potential.
